Mount Olive's Matt Dillon had another successful season for the perennial power Trojans, as he was named the Conference Carolinas' Pitcher of Year for the second season in a row. He was also named to the Rawlings/ABCA First Team postseason and earned the Rawlings/ABCA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year.

Dillon finished the season with an 11-1 record, and easily could have been a perfect 12-0 but he was outdueled in a loss in which he went 7.2 innings and only allowed a pair of earned runs. His 106.1 innings pitched included six complete games and even a save to boot. He fanned over a batter per inning, K'ing108 hitters while only isssuing 26 walks. For the season Dillon held opposition to a tiny 1.86 ERA and miniscule .225 batting average.
