Tampa's Mike Adams, a junior left-handed pitcher from Spring Hill, Fla., has established himself as the workhorse for Tampa's pitching staff and is one of the major reason the Spartans are competing to win their sixth baseball national championship.
In 26 appearances, Adams finished the season 8-0 with a 2.10 ERA and six saves. If you exclude just one bad outing from a Tampa win over West Florida during the South Regionals, Adams' ERA would be nearly a run lower at a dimunitive 1.14.
In 64.1 innings of work, Adams has tallied 77 strikeouts and amazingly has issued just eight walks.
He has recently been named both the Sunshine State Conference and Rawlings/AFCA South Region Pitcher of the Year.
